Aster Bay is envisioned to be a large and vibrant mixed-use development comprising of housing, hospitality, commercial and recreation on the banks of the river Periyar. The site is located in close proximity to Aster Medcity, and the proposal seeks to construct a financially viable design that balances the advantages of a beautiful waterfront development, with the complexities of an abutting hospital, like the segregation of patient and non-patient traffic.

The design capitalizes on the views towards the river by strategically placing low rise functions adjacent to the river edge, while accomodating high rise buildings in the interior pockets of the site.

A boardwalk wraps along the river edge and is flanked on the opposite end by intimate cafes and shops, thus ensuring that a human scale is maintained along the banks so as to nurture a vibrant public interface.

A public plaza forms the core of the development and is circumscribed by major functions like a 150 key hotel, a convention center, a 1000 seater auditorium, 1.5 lakh sq.ft of office space and 6.25 lakh sq.ft of housing. The plaza would thus cater to a rich mix of individuals and offer a sense of community to the entire development.
